From fire engines to Domino's pizza, Ruth's relaxed wedding was all about having a laugh with her new husband and their friends. Read all about her beaded Savin London gown and how Eleganza's Laura helped with a very special customisation...

How would you describe your Eleganza Experience? Absolutely amazing. I was really nervous about dress shopping and pushy salespeople. I didn't find that at all. The whole team at Eleganza set me at ease and listened to what I wanted and responded to that. My mum, Dave's mum and my sister loved it too, in the gorgeous setting and being supplied with a glass of champers.

Tell us all about your Savin London dress! I had seen the ‘Amelia’ dress online and loved it. I absolutely loved the floral and beaded embellishments, but deep down I knew I wouldn't suit the low neckline of it. I talked myself into the fact that I maybe would, because I liked the dress so much. So I made the appointment at Eleganza with the hope that I'd like it on me. It was the first bridal appointment I'd made, and the first dress I'd tried on. When I tried it on it felt like me. The detail is unreal! Even now I keep spotting things on it that I haven't noticed before. I love the whole shape of the dress and the detail of the low back. BUT, the neckline was really feeling like a deal breaker for me - I've just never suited that style, although I love it on other people. I tried on a few other dresses, and while they were lovely, I never felt like "me" in them. After I'd tried on around four more dresses the stylist who was helping us, Laura, came and told me that she had called the designer of the ‘Amelia’ dress and that they had agreed to make a custom gown with a high neckline. I was honestly blown away- I didn't think that this was a possibility. Laura took my measurements and sent them off- I can't thank her enough as I really didn't expect anything like that to happen. That was the July; the dress arrived in January and I absolutely loved it on!! The attention to detail was unbelievable, even down to the pearls round the neckline. It was just perfect and exactly what I had hoped it would be. How did your now-husband pop the question? Our first holiday together was to Barcelona. We went back 7 years later to visit friends who were over there. We arrived to find candles lit, rose petals and fairy lights which Dave had asked them to set up. It took a while for me to realise what was going on, but the penny dropped when Dave got down on one knee. What was your inspiration for your wedding? We had a small wedding at One Devonshire Gardens. We wanted to make everything as personal as we could, right down to the individualised favours. The day was brilliant. It was just as relaxed and happy as we'd hoped. This was largely thanks to a few of our suppliers, who were absolutely brilliant. Tell us more about your Big Day! We had 30 people there. It was just perfect for us! A free bar set the tone for the night. After dinner everyone was so relaxed. We had a playlist on so there was some dancing, Domino’s Pizza delivery and many, many shots! The best part about the day was being able to see everyone and have such a laugh with all of our guests. On the Saturday night we had a big party in Rutherglen Town Hall. It was amazing!! The venue is absolutely beautiful and it was so amazing to be able to wear the dress again! That night we had our first (proper) dance and a massive party with all of our friends and family. Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette? I took most of my colour scheme from the dress. We didn't really have a theme in mind, but we both knew we wanted a super relaxed day and for everyone to feel good and have a great time. I had four bridesmaids, who all picked their own dresses to suit them. The colour was blush pink. What was the most memorable moment? The fire alarm going off! After dinner the fire alarm went off. When the building had been cleared as being safe, me and Dave were invited for a go in the fire engine. It was so much fun!! Do you have a favourite picture from your wedding day? My favourite picture is a silly picture of me and Dave jumping around at the end of the night. It captures us well, and how happy we are. Photographer: Dave Fallon. We knew photography was something that was important to us. Dave was brilliant at setting us at ease, minimising the cheesy posed pictures and generally doing an absolutely amazing job (proof is in the pudding with the standard of photos so far)! Florist: My friend Janice who created absolutely amazing setups for us! I loved them so much. Venue 1: Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens. The venue is beautiful and the staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so well looked after, and a special mention to Chris who works there. He was absolutely amazing! He went over and above; the day was brilliant there. Venue 2: Rutherglen Town Hall where we had the big party! Makeup: Fiona Park. Fiona is absolutely brilliant at what she does. She listens and takes what you want on board. She is so knowledgeable in her field, but is also SO lovely to have there in the morning. Cake: Chiara Pieraccini. The cakes were unreal!! When we spoke to Chiara about our cake Dave said he likes "raspberry jam" and that was about it. Chiara spoke us through lots of flavours and designs and came up with two cakes that everybody was raving about. There was absolutely no cake left at the end of the weekend- a great sign!
