Eleganza Real Bride: Jayd

Eleganza Real Bride: Jayd

How would you describe your Eleganza Experience?

Very thorough! I was 8 weeks pregnant when I came for my first appointment so we knew from day one that by the time the wedding came I would be 30 weeks pregnant.

The type of dress I’d have gone for if I had no have been pregnant was totally different to the dress I ended up with, but I feel my dress turned out to be absolutely perfect and made me feel so comfortable in my ‘new’ body!

I was talked through the different options and processes for how we would make sure that we got the dress to fit, and I decided to go for the cut to measure option that the designer offered. I trusted the team team knew what they were doing but obviously there was always a little bit of ‘what if this doesn’t fit’ in my head as none of us knew how big or small my body would be at 7 months pregnant.

A few months down the line the team at Eleganza also suggested the option of having a ‘toile’ made as the first stage of the process which made me feel so reassured! Choosing to have a toile made meant we could basically test out the dress and make any size changes needed before the dress itself was made meaning there was much more flexibility in our plan!

The end result was that my dress was in fact slightly larger than it needed to be (which was perfect and what we had planned) and after some minor alternations fit perfectly on the day! But, possibly most importantly, it was very very comfortable and wearable for the duration of the wedding which was something that was a huge priority for me at that stage of my pregnancy.

Would you like to share with us your proposal moment, favourite part of planning your wedding or what you have planned for your honeymoon?

I LOVE to plan and love to organise. I am an extremely visual person and I love to brand things, make things match, and ensure things are as perfect as they can be!

We had 6 months exactly from booking our venue to the day of the wedding so this meant I got to throw myself into the organisation and really embrace it.

We created a wedding logo and had it blazoned on everything! Logo’d floor mats, glasses, bottle stubbys, bars, napkins, umbrellas, towels, chocolates, goody bags for guests; you name it, we logo’d it!

Tell us more about your Suzanne Neville gown!

From the moment I arrived to look at dresses I knew that although the cut I wanted had changed due to my pregnancy, the style I wanted remained the same.

I wanted simple, classic, timeless and elegant and that is exactly what I got! No lace, no embellishment, no pattern, just chic and clean!

I paired it with a custom made Pearl head band and Pearl embellished veil which did add a little bit more detail but didn’t take away from the striking elegance of the dress itself.

Throughout the entire day / evening of the wedding guests kept saying I looked like ‘Snow White’ or a ‘Disney Princess’ and that was exactly how I felt.

We got married in an exclusive hire castle venue which really complemented the style of the dress and made it all feel so regal!

What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

We were inspired by the grandness and old fashioned style of the castle so went with Ivory, sage green and brown (to match the wooden features which run throughout the castle and are the ‘wow’ feature in the ballroom where we were married.)

The only flowers we had were gypsophila (aka babies breath) and eucalyptus combined with lots of hessian fabric.

We also had candles EVERYWHERE and chose Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede as our wedding scent.

We had diffusers all over the castle and the gorgeous scent filled the whole place. We had the matching candles as wedding favours too so people could take them away and light them and be reminded of our wedding weekend!

Tell us more about your Big Day!

The wedding actually lasted 2 nights. We had 62 guests and we invited everyone to stay over for the 2 nights so there were no day time / night time guests. Everyone was there from start to finish so really got to spend a good amount of time together.

Friday night we hired two vintage food trucks which served pizzas and pastas and other Italian goodies. We had a live singer, a pop up bar and a lovely night of introductions and excitement.

Our wedding day was beautiful and we literally tried to do everything we could do no guest had to lift a finger. We had hair and make up artist for basically everyone, a gorgeous breakfast with mimosas, staff from Event Staff Scotland on hand to assist with our guests every needs. A pre ceremony drinks reception, a harpist, a surprise singer during the ceremony. A drinks reception with delicious canapés, a cocktail hour, caricaturists. Plus then a wonderful 3 course choice menu meal followed by a great r n b band for our evening party!

There’s so much I’ve missed but hopefully it paints a picture for you :-)

What was the most memorable moment?

Walking down the aisle! I had arranged a singer to sing me down the aisle which my husband nor any of the guests knew about. The sound of the acoustics in the ballroom were amazing and so impactful and it was a very emotional moment and wonderful surprise for everyone.

Do you have a favourite picture from your wedding day? Why is this image so special to you?

There is an image of me at the bottom of the aisle staring at my husband as we hold hands and I just love it. I remember that exact moment and our eye contact felt so connected, it felt like it was just us in the room.
