Eleganza Real Bride: Amy

Eleganza Real Bride: Amy

How would you describe your Eleganza Experience?

My experience with Eleganza was amazing. The store is so lovely to be in, the team make you feel so special, it was such a lovely day with my mum. I was engaged recent to visiting the store, we just popped in for a look to get into the wedding feels and ended up seeing THE ONE.

Would you like to share with us your proposal moment, favourite part of planning your wedding or what you have planned for your honeymoon?

Alex is just the best guy to me and treats me like I'm the only gal in the world as cheesy as that sounds but it's true.

Family and our friends are the most important thing to us both and our wedding day was really not only for us two but for them to be together and just have a good old time. This is what we went with from the get go... we wanted a boozy wedding that was just a load of fun and I think that's what we achieved and I am so proud of us.

Personality wise Alex and I are complete opposites as our humanist read out on the day, Alex is the quiet one and I am the loud one, Alex loves chocolate and Amy loves cheese.

To cut the story short I have put into bullet points:

-Alex and I met 9 years ago at University in Manchester England, I am from Glasgow Scotland and Alex is from Devon England.
-I studied fashion and Alex studied chemical engineering.
-We met in a nightclub (I asked him to dance aha).
-Alex finished his degree and moved to London while I stayed in Manchester to do my final year.
-I then moved to London and four months in Alex said he was offered a job in New York and left for two years - we stayed together and travelled back and forth, it was tough at times but we have some of our best memories there, it was never an option to break apart so we made it work
-Alex came back after two years and the following year proposed in Cannes, France 2019 and we got married in August 2022 - we did have to postpone a year due to covid as it was just not going to be the wedding we wanted and we are so glad we held off ( it was a 3 year engagement in the end)
-In the same year we bought a flat in London so it was a big year for us and onto 2023 and we are doing great and just enjoying drinking cocktails on the weekend, seeing mates and family and booking holidays with the goal to move to Scotland one day.

Tell us more about your Martina Liana gown!

I had in my head I wanted something fitted, high neck, backless and long sleeve which is what I tried on and instantly was disappointed as I just didn't suit the style. Never in a million years I thought I would go for the dress I did but from the moment I tried this dress on I knew it was the one and it was the first shop and the 5th dress I tired on. I had to postpone my wedding a year due to covid so my gorgeous dress lived in a box for three years and I never fell out of love with it, it was worth the wait.

What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

I think you can tell from the photos that I'm not much into colour so when it came to the wedding I wanted everything as neutral as possible which was a surprise to most especially when it came to the bridesmaid dresses. I know some are against (white/ivory) worn by anyone other than the bride however my real dream wedding would be all the ladies dressed in white haha! I wanted everything simple but stunning and I think we achieved that across the board, to the venue, the dresses, the suits, the flowers, the stationary etc.

Tell us more about your Big Day!

Our wedding went exactly how we planned, all I can say it was just pure magic.

Its true... When they say it's the best day of your life, it really is the best of your life.

Our wedding I would say was a traditional way of doing a wedding with a ceremony, dinner then onto dancing but we added elements to the day to make it our own which I'm sure you will see throughout the pictures.

-The night before we held our nearest and dearest guests for a Mexican night with drinks on top of the hills at our venue GG's Yard in Scotland which was an insane view (may I add it was 30 degrees both the day before the wedding and on our wedding day which is unheard of in Scotland so it was a HOT day (not complaining at all lol)

-We had a humanist which made the ceremony extremely personable in which my uncle co-married us with which was super special as hand-fasting a traditional Scottish legacy was conducted during our ceremony where we quite literally tied the knot.

-My brother DJ'd during our canapés to get the party started straight away with people drinking beers and fizz

-We then had speeches and dinner - Alex and I walked in to one of our fav feel good songs - Florence & The Machine (You've Got The Love)

-Then Alex and I jumped out for an hour to get our photos as it was too sunny in the day to get the shots the photographer / videographer wanted so we went to the beach and it was so nice to get away for a bit and just fully relax

-Back to cut the cake and our first dance to Al Green Let's Stay Together

-Then danced the night away with an open bar for everyone including our Mr & Mrs cocktails Espresso Martini and Rum Punch

-The ultimate highlight was everyone popping outside to watch the fireworks at the end of the night...

What was the most memorable moment?

Our ceremony, moments on the beach with my new hubby and of course the fireworks the end the best day!

Do you have a favourite picture from your wedding day? Why is this image so special to you?

I don't have a specific photo but I do love the photos of me and my bridesmaids and mum getting ready in the bridal room - that was special to be with my best girls, it was an emotional ride including tears of happiness and laughter.
