Abbie eloped to the incomparable New York City to have the wedding of her dreams! Read all about her Eleganza experience that led her to the perfect custom Essense of Australia dress...

How did you find out about Eleganza Sposa? It’s a local shop that I have walked past and admired for years. Amazing! And did the Eleganza experience live up to your expectations? My visit to Eleganza was the best experience I had during my dress shopping journey. The shop itself is absolutely stunning and the staff were all so friendly. During my first consultation at Eleganza, the staff were extremely helpful and I was made to feel so very special. I did not receive this same exceptional experience elsewhere so this is where Eleganza really stood out to me. I was after something quite specific and my consultant was able to offer advice and bring my dream dress to life.

What was your favourite part of planning your wedding? My favourite part of wedding planning was definitely dress shopping. I remember the moment I tried on my dress for the first time and I just felt like a princess. Tell us all about your Essence of Australia dress! My dress originally came with off the shoulder straps but for years I had dreamt of having a beautiful lace bolero jacket. So we removed the straps from the dress and made a bespoke lace jacket with the same lace as the dress. It was just perfect! It made the dress so unique by adding my own little touch to it. For the first time in years, I felt amazing wearing the dress. So many locals in New York commented on how amazing it looked as we passed them in the streets. My husband, a man of few words, even said it was a stunning dress! We can’t believe you got married in New York City, what a dream! My husband proposed to me in NYC in 2016 so it felt right to marry in NYC as well. Did this affect your theme or inspiration during wedding planning? We didn't follow a specific theme for our day. We wanted to stick with pastel colours and keep things clean and crisp looking to contrast with the stunning New York City setting. Tell us more about your big day! Around 20 of our closest friends and family (including our two beautiful daughters) travelled over from Scotland and Australia to see us get married. We held a really intimate and personal ceremony at Ladies Pavilion, Central Park, which was such a stunning venue to have on a lovely sunny day. After this, my husband and I travelled all around New York City with our photographer in an original 1967 checker cab. The cab has been used in so many films like Home Alone 2, When Harry Met Sally, Almost Famous and Catch Me If You Can. It was a fantastic experience. Even Lady Gaga had been driven to her gigs in this exact same cab! Then we joined our friends and family on an evening dinner cruise along the Hudson river, passing the Statue of Liberty. We made so many special memories on this day! Sounds absolutely beautiful! You have so many great photographs from your New York wedding, do you have a favourite? I have so many favourite images of the day but one of my absolute favourites has to be the one of us standing in the middle of the road in Times Square. I love how still we are in our little bubble of love whilst the world passes by beside us - everyone carries on with their daily lives. It's a really captivating image. Thanks for telling us all about your dream NYC wedding! Finally, do you have any advice for future brides visiting Eleganza? Try to relax and enjoy the whole experience! Try on as many dresses as you can to help make your decision and don't be afraid to voice any special requests you may have.
