We’re looking forward into wedding trends for 2020, giving you all the inspiration you need for your big day. Today we have a real heavenly addition as we look at the possibilities of a cloud themed wedding…
It all started when the showstopping beauty Eleganza Real Bride Chloe approached our dream-maker Anna looking for the custom gown she has always imagined.
“I want to look like I am walking amongst the clouds,” she told our head designer. That was all the inspiration that Anna needed to find Chloe’s perfect gown and create a custom design to make her vision come to life.
Anna added a custom skirt to a beautifully embellished Riki Dalal gown that gave the illusion of the bride gliding along the skies as she walked down the aisle. Chloe’s cloud themed fantasy gown allowed just the right amount of glamour by keeping a flattering shape that hugged her figure and focusing strongly on texture to bring the drama.
Texture is easily forgotten about when shopping for a bridal gown or thinking about a wedding theme, however haute couture bridal designers such as Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab will often use extravagant, dreamy materials to create modern looks for the runway. We saw this most recently when Ariana Grande brought her favourite cloud emoji to life at the 2020 Grammy Awards wearing a showstopping custom Giambattista Valli creation.
Textural drama can be translated beyond fashion. When planning the details of your big day, the cloud theme can followed in a subtle and classy way through table decor, floral arrangements and colour scheme.
When working on a theme for your wedding, it is sometimes better to keep your overarching ideas rather vague. A theme such as ‘clouds’ can be interpreted in many different ways meaning you can be as creative as you please. This will prevent brides and wedding planners from feeling too restricted from a choice of theme whilst still maintaining a common thread throughout the design aspects of the big day.
A huge trend for 2020 will be flower cloud arrangements. Made famous by designers like Mary Lennox and Designs by Ahn, the illusion of flower clouds are created by suspending decorations above the heads of your guests. The floating pieces make an unforgettable statement whilst allowing brides to be flexible on colour scheme and location. These can also be added to doorways, staircases and furniture to create Instagram-worthy set ups that your guests will be talking about for years to come.
Some of our most beautiful gowns use texture in an interesting way to create a dramatic look that can still be whimsical. We have a wide range of dresses that can be styled to suit each bride’s individual taste whilst staying true to their wedding theme.
The showstopping Liliana by Martina Liana uses a layered tulle skirt with 3D flower embroidery to create a romantic look with just the right amount of fullness at the bottom.
Brides that want to recreate a heavenly cloud look without so much fullness can look to Camilla by Riki Dalal. This glittering embroidered dress with puffy sleeves, stunning tulle and a chapel train has a delicate and gentle mood that still turns heads.
