Eleganza Iconica By...Gillian Milloy

Eleganza Sposa were delighted to sponsor and support the Glasgow Caledonian University 4th Year Fashion Business Students 2013 Fashion Show.  We set the students the challenge of designing exquisite wedding gowns for our in-house Eleganza Iconica Collection. Four inspiring winners were selected, one from each of the Eleganza key looks. Gillian Milloy, a Fashion Business graduate from Glasgow Caledonian University, won the La Dolce Vita category in the Eleganza Sposa Wedding Gown Design Project. Her dress 'Giuliana' perfectly encapsulates our La Dolce Vita bridal style, which is for the bride looking for an unforgettable, distinctive look with powerful, striking and innovative silhouettes and fabrics. We spoke with Gillian to learn more...

Which fashion designer do you most admire?  I consistently like Chloe. Their designs are understated; they focus on the fit and fabric which I admire. In my opinion they sum up Parisian chic, which I love. How did it feel to have your design selected by Eleganza? I was really surprised! Obviously I was really pleased and I am excited to see what my design will look like when it’s made up. It’s a good way to end my time at university. What was the inspiration behind your design?  I was inspired by Roman architecture, as I thought the column shapes and intricate designs lent themselves to the more curvaceous silhouette of La Dolce Vita. What are your plans for the future now you have graduated? I plan to work hard to save money so that I can move to London, as I feel that is where most of the fashion opportunities are. I’m not 100% sure but I think I’d like to work in advertising or publishing, but in some sort of creative role.
