Eleganza Real Bride Shanna took great pleasure in organising her wedding, creating lists for everything! Surrounding herself with supportive family, friends and experts in each field she created her perfect wedding day!
I came into Eleganza after visiting a few other shops after which I established exactly what I didn’t want for my dress! I had pretty much exhausted all avenues and had started to come to the conclusion that the dress I had envisaged for myself may not actually have existed.
One of the girls came through with a couple of silk dresses which I hadn’t even thought to consider. If I’m honest, I wasn’t immediately enthralled when I saw it hanging up. However, when I put on the second dress I felt myself a little disorientated – I knew this was my dress the second I showed my mum and sister!
I hadn’t even considered Martina Liana dresses before I tried the two my stylist selected for me during my appointment! I went into the process with too many expectations and opinions on my body shape etc. I was so wrong – trust the professionals 🙂
Everything during my Eleganza Experience was smooth sailing. Zero blips and I was very well accommodated!
My husband proposed to me in Gleneagles for my 23rd birthday – which also happened to be our seven year anniversary!
I had a relatively stress free wedding planning experience which was definitely an added bonus!
For me organisation was key – I had lists for everything.
Once the big things are all organised and taken care of, all of the smaller, finer details start to take shape. I fortunately had very professional, reliable suppliers! There is not one thing I would have changed about our perfect day!
The best moments for me were walking into the venue for the first time after the ceremony with the place lit up with all the candles and the smell of all the fresh flowers. It was something out of a fairy tale and my florist Amy Annand was incredible!
Additionally, watching our two beautiful daughters dancing with these massive smiles, covered is chocolate and strawberries because it was their day too and we finally all share the same surname!
My dress was a mikado silk, mermaid style dress with trumpet skirt and button detailing at the back. With latticed, hand stitched lace round the sweetheart neckline which also cascaded down each side of the waist, the visible boning adding structure to the dress.
I chose to wear the tiny silk spaghetti straps with my dress. I felt the way a bride should feel on her wedding day.
My bridal party were all tearing up, so was my hair stylist and make up artist. I was like ‘you guys are all tearing up and I haven’t even seen myself yet’….. Then when I looked in the full length mirror I couldn’t believe it was me looking back! I looked even better than I had thought possible!
My dad walked in and instantly walked out blubbering like a baby. I am one of four daughters (no brothers) and I was the first to get married, so this was a truly intimate moment for my dad particularly when he walked me over to the ceremony and down the isle as proud as punch!
When I sat down with my florist I went through styles to determine what I liked and didn’t like. We pinged ideas back and forth and Amy’s incredible artistic flare was instrumental in helping me make any decisions with regards to flowers, buttonholes and dressing the venue which made things really easy!
I’m a control freak, but had so much confidence in Amy that I handed her the reigns and she blew the roof off the place!
I didn’t want a predictable wedding, I like to do my own thing and choose colours, styles that most may settle too soon on! I showed Amy my bridesmaid dresses, the groomsmen kilts as well as a swatch for my dress and she went from there with little pops from everything…. on the day the bouquets tied everything together like a dream!
The team at The Byre are Amazing. The whole day was coordinated perfectly and there was always someone on hand for any of our or our guests’ needs…. but you never saw them – I’m certain they were hiding in stone walls!
The ceremony – the story of our journey so far and our hopes for our future!
We have been together since we were 16 and 20… Nine years and we have our house and our girls already…. This was our last thing to do, and getting married is more than just a piece of paper, it’s silly but we finally feel united. It’s an incredible feeling to marry your soulmate!
I have four favourite images.
A photo of me looking at my husbands lips. I still, fourteen weeks on know exactly how I felt in that exact moment.
A photo of our baby Alice dancing under my beautiful veil that the girls from the store styled with my dress.
A photo of our 4 year old daughter Mila peaking round the corner of the dressing room at me once I was ready for the first time (her expression speaks a thousand words).
And the last photo taken of my brother in law Liam doing the splits on the dance floor next to a full glass of red wine….. A reminder of how much of an amazing time all our family and friends had!
The best day ever!
Trust your stylist. This is their industry for a reason!
